Davidson Falls at Nationally Ranked South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 12 South Carolina scored multiple runs in five innings, including five in its last at bat, en route to a 15-2 win over the Davidson baseball team Wednesday night at Founders Park.
Two Gamecocks led the way with perfect performances, including starters DC Arendas (2-for-2, 1 RBI) and Marcus Mooney (4-for-4, 4 RBI), as South Carolina (17-2) scored 15 runs off 19 hits and two Wildcat errors.
Davidson (7-9) had eight different Wildcats record a hit, including freshman Eric Jones who batted in Tyler Agard off a single in the fourth for Davidson's first score of the day.
Pinch runner Cameron Marshall later scored off the Gamecock's lone error in the eighth to cap off the Wildcats' offense.
South Carolina saw four Gamecocks appear on the mound, including Matt Vogel who pitched 2.0 innings in relief and allowed one run off two hits with three strikeouts for the win. Starter Colie Bowers threw the first two silent innings, but walked a game-high four batters.
Evan Roberts was the first of nine pitchers to appear on the mound for Davidson and allowed three runs off five hits with two strikeouts for the loss.
The Wildcats will return to Wilson Field for a three-game series against Furman this weekend, starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
