Davidson Falls at Duke in Mid-Week Action

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team fell to the Duke Blue Devils, 9-2, Tuesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Despite two late runs in the eighth from Davidson (4-4), Duke (5-3) put five runs on the board in the first and added four more in the third to secure the victory.
Griffin Conine led both teams with a perfect performance, going 3-for-3 with one RBI. Freshman Ward Coleman led the Wildcats, going 2-for-2.
The Wildcats started the eighth off with Tyler Agard drawing a walk before two pinch hitters Aaron Tovsky and Ward Coleman recorded back-to-back singles to load the bases. Pinch hitter Andrew Born drew a walk for the first Davidson score before Tovsky crossed the plate off a wild pitch.
Kellen Urban started the first seven innings for the Blue Devils, allowing one hit – a Sam Foy two-out single in the fourth – and did not walk a batter, extending his scoreless innings streak to 13.0 innings for the win.
Evan Roberts (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits over 2.0 innings.
The Wildcats return home this weekend with a three-game series against Lafayette College starting Friday at 6 p.m.
