Wildcats Fall At High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team fell to the High Point Panthers, 15-2, Tuesday night at Williard Stadium. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 12-6 overall, while the Panthers improved to 11-11 on the season.
High Point out hit Davidson, 15-7 with the Wildcats committing two errors. Left fielder Will Robertson led Davidson with two hits and two RBI, while first baseman David Daniels picked up one run and two hits in three at bats.
Left fielder Carson Jackson led the Panthers with a game-high three runs and two hits in four at bats.
High Point went ahead 5-0 in the bottom of the third as the 'Cats had some trouble on the mound. RHP Chase Plebani threw five wild pitches with the Panthers scoring on three in his lone inning of the contest.
Davidson got on the board with two runs off three hits in the top of the seventh. Robertson highlighted the inning with a double to right center field that scored Daniels (single up middle) and right fielder Lee Miller (single to right side).
Nine runs off eight hits with a Wildcat error in the bottom seventh eventually secured the contest for High Point.
The Wildcats threw seven pitchers with freshman LHP Evan Roberts making his first start of the season. Roberts went the first two innings, allowing one run off three hits to drop to 1-1 overall. LHP Jake Batchelder was the third Wildcat to enter the mound as he threw a team-high 2.1 innings, allowing one run off two hits and one strikeout.
LHP Will Resnik got his first win of the season for the Panthers as he pitched the first three innings and only allowed one Wildcat hit.
Davidson will return home this weekend to host Saint Louis for a three-game series starting Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m.
