DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Caley Redden finished with 14 kills and 14 digs to lead the UNCG Spartans to a 3-1 (20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 20-25) win over the Davidson Wildcats Sunday afternoon in SoCon volleyball action at Belk Arena.

Senior setter Hayley Lawson posted 39 assists, and senior libero Jennifer Chamblee paced the defense with 12 digs.
Greensboro took a 12-5 lead to start the match before Davidson rattled off four straight, including an ace from sophomore Molly Crenshaw and a kill by Benedict, to force a Spartan timeout at 14-10. The Wildcats knotted the score at 16 behind a 6-2 run, and the teams traded points until, tied at 18, the Spartans closed with a 7-2 spurt to win the first set, 25-20.
The second set was back-and-forth early, but UNCG opened a 16-10 lead with a 10-4 run. Trailing 22-16, the Wildcats put together a 5-1 run with a kill from Benedict, who also served a pair of points, to force UNCG into a timeout, 23-20. Billi Baker gave the Spartans their first set-point chance, but an error extended play until Olivia Humphries lifted UNCG to a 2-0 lead in the match with the 25-21 win.
The Wildcats turned a 3-1 deficit into a 6-4 lead to start the third set, as Benedict got a kill and two aces. Greensboro stayed close, getting within a point on several occasions, but Davidson held the lead until kills from Humphries and Finney put the Spartans ahead, 16-15. The Wildcats responded with a 3-0 run to reclaim the lead and closed out the 25-21 win.
Greensboro opened up an 11-10 game with a 6-3 run to grab a 17-13 lead and force Davidson into a timeout. The Spartans pushed their advantage to 21-15 and fought off a late-set charge by the Wildcats, who cut UNCG's lead to 23-20 with a 5-2 run. But a Wildcat service error gave UNCG a match point, and Finney put away the winner for the 25-20 decision.
Davidson will return to action Thursday, hosting Georgia Southern at 6 p.m. for its third straight SoCon match at Belk Arena.
