Scovens Hits Milestone, Leads 'Cats Past Fordham

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to scoring his 1,000th career point, Josh Scovens scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead Davidson to a 68-63 victory over Fordham in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday night inside Belk Arena.
With the win, the Wildcats improved to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in league play, while the Rams fell to 10-10 and 1-6.
Scovens, the 56th player and sixth transfer in program history to reach the milestone, scored 17 points in the second half, including a 3-point play with 4:42 remaining that put the 'Cats up for good. In one second-half stretch, he scored 11 of 13 Davidson points.
Roberts Blums also finished in double figures with 14 points.
Trailing by as many as nine, 40-31, at the 15:01 mark, Davidson reeled off 12 straight to retake the lead, which grew 48-42. After the Rams scored six unanswered to deadlock things at 48-all, Scovens responded with five straight of his own.
Fordham, which finished the game shooting 54 percent, led 30-26 at the half.
Davidson held a 32-29 edge on the glass, turned 18 turnovers in 22 points and finished 14-of-19 at the line.
DeJour Reaves led the way for Fordham with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting.

Davidson will conclude its brief homestand Saturday when VCU visits for a 5 p.m. tip.
