Davidson Heads to SLU for Midweek Tip

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson College men's basketball team will head west for a Wednesday tip off at Saint Louis in Atlantic 10 league action.

Opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST, with coverage on the Davidson Radio Network and ESPN+.

WILDCAT SCRATCHES
• Davidson closed out its non-conference season 10-3 overall, winning their last seven games before the start of the Atlantic 10 season.
• Veteran trio David Skogman (13.3), Grant Huffman (13.2 ppg) and Connor Kochera (10.6) lead the Wildcats in scoring this season.
• Also the team's captains, Skogman (.558), Kochera (.504) and Huffman (.479) pace the 'Cats in field goal percentage.
• In Atlantic 10 play, Skogman is shooting 11-of-19 from beyond the arc after draining five triples against Richmond last Saturday.
• Nine of Davidson's games this season have been determined by five points or less. The 'Cats are 4-5 in those games.

THE MEETING
• This is the 13th meeting all-time between the two teams. The series began when Davidson joined the A-10 in 2014-15. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 8-4. 
• SLU won both games last year – 74-70 at Belk Arena, and 78-65 at Chaifetz Arena. 
• The series is tied 2-2 in games played at Chaifetz Arena. 

ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
• The Bills are coming off two straight road losses to Dayton and VCU.
Gibson Jimerson leads the Bills and is ninth in the A-10 in scoring with 16.1 ppg. He is fourth in the conference with 2.5 3s made/game and is sixth in 3-point percentage (.385). 
Bradley Ezewiro is averaging 13.1 ppg and a team-leading 7.3 rpg. He has led the Billikens in rebounding in six straight games. 
• Since 2016-17, Travis Ford's first season as Billiken head coach, SLU is 47-15 in A-10 home games.

LAST TIME OUT | RICHMOND 69, DAVIDSON 64 OT | JAN. 20, 2024
• Jordan King scored all of Richmond's points in overtime and finished with a game-high 24 as the Spiders remained unbeaten in league play with a 69-64 victory over Davidson Saturday afternoon inside Belk Arena.
• The senior duo of David Skogman and Grant Huffman led the Wildcats with 24 and 17 points, respectively. • Skogman drilled five of his club's eight buckets from long range, while Huffman added 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
• Trailing 53-44 midway through the second, the Wildcats clawed their way back into the contest with a 16-4 streak and went back in front, 60-57, on a Skogman triple with 2:15 remaining.
• Richmond's Isaiah Bigelow answered with a 3-pointer as the two teams traded buckets down the stretch. Davidson had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Hunter Adam's floater rimmed out at the buzzer.

ALL EYES ON G
• Senior point guard Grant Huffman has been on a tear this season, most notably recording a pair of 24-point performances in two of his last three outings.
• In A-10 play, the captain is averaging 16.6 points per game to go with a 33-of-67 (49.3%) effort from the floor.
• The Ohio native also ranks 54th nationally from the point, averaging a league-best 4.9 assists per game.
• With 88 total assists (2nd in A-10 / 64th nationally), Huffman also has a team-best 30 steals, good for fourth best in the league. 

TRENDY 'CATS
• Davidson is 7-1 this season when four or more 'Cats score in double figures.
• The Wildcats are 8-1 when Connor Kochera reaches double digits in scoring.
• When Reed Bailey leads Davidson in rebounding, the 'Cats are 5-1.
Grant Huffman has led the Wildcats in assists in all but one game this season. 
• The 'Cats went 6-0 in the month of December, extending their streak to seven-straight, the longest win-streak of head coach Matt McKillop's tenure.
