
Dominant Second Half Leads ‘Cats Past Saint Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Grant Huffman scored a game-high 23 points and Davidson shot 62.5 percent in the second half to pull away from Saint Louis, 84-61, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday night inside Chaifetz Arena.
The Wildcats, who outscored the Billikens 56-30 after intermission, improve to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Huffman, who finished 10-of-18 from the field, gave the 'Cats a 15-point advantage and put the game out of reach with a triple followed by a steal and two-handed jam with 2:50 to play.
Backcourt mate Angelo Brizzi came off the bench to score 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including two buckets from long range to go along with 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 17 minutes.
Davidson scored the first nine points of the second half to go back in front, 37-31. After Sincere Parker answered with back-to-back 3-pointers to even the score, the Wildcats broke the game open with a 14-4 spurt capped by a Brizzi trey to push the margin to double digits with 13 minutes remaining.
David Skogman (14) and Reed Bailey (12) also scored in double figures for Davidson, which drilled 10 3-pointers, as the 'Cats finished with 40 points in the paint and 20 fast-break points.
Both teams had 8-0 runs in the opening 20 minutes, but it was the Billikens' 26 points in the paint and defense that helped them to a 31-28 edge at the half.
Bradley Ezewiro led Saint Louis (8-11, 1-5 A-10) with 20 points.
