
'Cats Drop 1-0 Decision at Rhode Island

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Rhode Island on the road Thursday in Atlantic 10 play.Â
The Wildcats now become 3-8-1 overall and 0-4-1 in A-10 competition while Rhody picks up its first win of the season to improve to 1-6-5 overall and 1-1-2 in the conference.
A Rams goal in the fourth minute by Cristina Sallent would be the difference maker as Rhode Island maintained the narrow advantage until the final buzzer.Â
Davidson and Rhode Island played what was a very close game with the 'Cats leading in shots (9-8) and the Rams taking a slight lead in shots on goal (4-3).Â
The Wildcats were no stranger to chances of netting the equalizer as they took seven corner kicks including four in the second half.Â
While the 'Cats were in heavy pursuit of knotting the score, they were negated of solid chances due to eight offsides calls.Â
Leading the way for the Davidson offense was Aleia Gisolfi-McCready (2 shots, 1 shot on goal), Brooke Ditcham (1 shot on goal) and Alli Jacobson (1 shot on goal).Â
In a 90-minute effort, Emily Smith tallied three saves.Â
