
Wildcats Start Two-Game Road Trip at Rhode Island

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson College women's soccer team is set for two road games this week, first at Rhode Island Thursday and then at Fordham Sunday.Â
The Wildcats will look to snap a three-game losing streak as well as pick up their first Atlantic 10 victory while facing the two league opponents.Â
"We are at a pivotal point in the season going into the games this week," said head coach Riley Piechnick. "I said it early on that the A-10 is a conference where it is crucial to show up for every game, and we haven't don't that in the last few. Moving forward, it's all about how we respond and showing some resiliency to bounce back in conference play. We had a great practice yesterday to jump start us into the week and are excited to get back out and compete."Â
Davidson enters the week 3-7-1 overall and 0-3-1 in A-10 play while claiming two of its three wins on the road.Â
The Wildcat offense continues to be led by Aleia Gisolfi-McCready (5 points, 2 goals, 1 assist) and Savannah Pruitt (4 points, 2 goals). Riley Patton, Shea Bonacci and SJ Pak round out goalscorers for the 'Cats with one apiece.Â
Emily Smith, in 11 starts, enters the week with a 1.45 goals-against average, an 0.742 saves percentage and 46 saves.Â
SCOUTING RHODE ISLANDÂ
The Rams are currently 0-6-5 overall and 0-1-2 in the conference. When playing Davidson, Rhode Island trails 4-2 in the series dating back to 2014. Most recently, the Rams suffered a 1-0 loss to the Wildcats on Sept. 22, 2022 at Alumni Stadium.Â
As a team, Rhode Island has two goals on the year, scored by Tess O'Connell and Cristina Sallent, while Erin Hopewell is the remaining Ram to have scored one point via an assist.Â
Faith Hutchins has started 10 contests in-goal for Rhode Island and has an 0.80 GAA, an 0.846 saves percentage and 44 saves.Â
SCOUTING FORDHAM
The Rams enter the week 3-6-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the league prior to playing Dayton Thursday. Fordham is 5-1 against Davidson dating back to 2015. The Wildcats defeated the Rams in the two teams' most recent match on Oct. 13, 2022 via 1-0 victory.Â
On the year, Fordham has totaled 15 goals, scoring 1.4 per game and landing 40.8 percent of its shots on target.Â
The Rams' offense is paced by Caroline Monahan with eight points on four goals and Riley Carroll with seven points on three goals and one assist. Six additional Fordham players have contributed with at least one goal this year.Â
Kyla King, the Rams' starting goalkeeper, has tallied 25 saves to go along with a 1.32 GAA and 0.69 saves percentage in nine games.Â
