DAVIDSON — An early goal proved to be all the separation the George Mason women's soccer team needed in a 1-0 win over Davidson Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
With the season finale loss, the Wildcats wrapped up 6-9-3 overall and 2-6-2 in Atlantic 10 play. The Patriots (10-5-3) improved to 6-3-1 in the A10 and will advance to the A10 Tournament.
Mason struck in the fourth minute when Madyson Taylor crossed a ball into the box and Molly Starmer headed it in for her sixth goal of the season.
Davidson finished with advantages in shots (11-9), shots-on-goal (5-3) and corner kicks (4-1). Madelyn Hayes and Kiera Pohan led the Wildcats with two shots-on-goal, while Isabella Harry had one.
Jillian Fox made two saves.
