DAVIDSON, N.C. — A late second-half goal by Lily Camacho lifted Rhode Island to a 1-0 victory over the Davidson College women's soccer team Thursday evening at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats drop to 5-6-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Rams climb to 3-1-1 in conference action (5-4-4 overall).
After wading through early possession from Rhode Island, the Wildcats generated quality chances in the back half of the first half. Reese Montgomery drove the 'Cats' offense, putting up 3 of Davidson's 8 total shots, including a header that missed wide of the net.
The Wildcats' offense sputtered in the second half, taking only 3 shots. Rhode Island surged on offense, dominating possession and putting up 11 shots.
The Rams were eventually able to get one past Grace Stair in the 83rd minute. A free kick from Rhode Island pinballed off two Rams before being put home by Camacho for the game-winning goal.
The 'Cats were unable to get a good look in the final 7 minutes. Stair made 3 saves for Davidson, while Dani Eden made 2 for Rhode Island.
