DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson College women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by Atlantic 10 competitor Fordham Sunday on the road.Â
The Wildcats were the offensive aggressive on paper over the match as they out shot the Rams 18-9 overall and 9-5 on goal.Â
Aleia Gisolfi-McCready led the charge matching her season-high's of five total shots with three on target. Shea Bonacci and Kialie Hudson also aided in the striking efforts with two shots that were both on goal each.
Annaliese Mann and Ella Barnes rounded out 'Cat players to land a shot on target with one apiece.Â
Emily Smith posted a solid performance in goal for Davidson making four save, all coming in the first half of competition.Â
Over the second half alone, the Wildcats owned the offensive possession peppering the Fordham goalkeeper with 12 shots and five in her direction while the 'Cats defense held the Rams to four shots and one on goal.Â
However, Fordham's second half shot on goal would be the difference maker. With less than two minutes remaining in the competition Lena Johnsen netted a goal high left and out of reach of Smith on the way to a 1-0 Rams victory.Â
The loss moves Davidson's record to 3-9-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the Atlantic 10 while Fordham becomes 4-6-3 overall and 2-1-2 in A-10 competition.Â
