
Baseball Hosts Wofford Wednesday

On the road for two straight weekends, the Davidson baseball team will host non-conference foe Wofford Wednesday night at Wilson Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

It's the Wildcats' final midweek home game and their only scheduled Wednesday contest.

Davidson enters 23-15 overall after winning two of three Atlantic 10 Conference games at Rhode Island over the weekend.

LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Midway through the Atlantic 10 season, Davidson is 9-3 in league play and tied with Saint Louis atop the standings.Â
• Davidson has won four of its last six games and is 15-5 since mid-March.
• Junior outfielder Ryan Wilson continues to set the standard offensively in the A-10. He's the league leader in home runs (15), batting average (.384), on-base percentage (.519), slugging percentage (.797), OPS (1.316), total bases (110) and hit-by-pitches (22). He's second with 53 runs and 44 RBIs.
• Sophomore second baseman Jack Cotrone is second in the league with a 1.100 OPS and 10 home runs. Junior third baseman Nick Calero is second with 35 walks and tied for second with five sacrifice flies.
• Davidson and Wofford, former Southern Conference foes, last met in 2021, with each team winning at home in a two-game matchup.
• Freshman right-hander Brycen Champey will get the start Tuesday.

• Wofford entered the week 29-10 and is set to play at UNC Asheville Tuesday.
• The Terriers have won the last two regular season Southern Conference titles and were the preseason SoCon favorite. They're currently 8-4 in league play and tied for first with Mercer and Samford.
• Wofford leads the nation with 58 sacrifice bunts and 1.97 walks allowed per nine innings.
• Infielder Jack Renwick is first in the nation with 18 sacrifice bunts.
• Ryan Galanie leads the SoCon with a .439 average and 49 RBIs and is second with 12 home runs. Cameron Gill leads the league with a .542 on-base percentage.
• The Terriers have stolen 109 bases this year, which ranks fifth nationally. Six Terriers have stolen at least 11 bases, led by Trey Yunger (17).
• Wofford will start right-hander Charlie Weber against Davidson.
