Davidson Falls to Lafayette in Series Opener

The Wildcats, now 2-3, fell behind 2-0 in the top half of the first when the Leopards scored two runs on two hits, a walk and a sacrifice, and Lafayette never lost the lead.
Davidson did answer in the first when Carico scored on Ryan Wilson's sacrifice fly and stayed within striking distance, down 2-1, until the Leopards scored four runs in the sixth.
The Wildcats left the bases loaded in the fourth and fifth innings and managed just two hits against Leopards pitcher Alex Walsh (5.0 IP, 9 Ks).
O'Shaughnessy's home run came with two outs in the eighth on a shot down the right field line and made it 6-2. After the Leopards added a run in the ninth, Carico homered to right-center with one out in the bottom half.
Carico and Wilson were the only Wildcats with two hits.
Wildcat pitchers struck out 10, including four each by starter Will Schomberg (4 IP) and Danny Rosenfield (3 IP).
