Wildcats Fall, Will Go For Series Win Sunday

DAVIDSON — The Davidson baseball team found some late offense Saturday, but it wasn't enough in a 12-4 loss to NJIT at Wilson Field.
Both teams are now 1-1 entering Sunday's rubber match in the season-opening series.
The Wildcats, who committed five errors, trailed 12-0 before Nick Calero drove in a run on a fielder's choice in a four-run seventh. Ryan Wilson then followed with a two-RBI double off the wall in right-center, before Henry Koehler plated another run on a groundout.
Ryan Feczko got the start on the mound and took the loss, after throwing four innings and allowing five hits and three earned runs. Nick Shedleski (3 IP) and Miles Jamieson (1 IP) combined to hold the Highlanders scoreless over the final four frames.
Shortstop Jacob Hinderleider saw his 23-game hit streak end Saturday, one shy of matching the program record set by Jazz Freitas in 1994.
Freshman Michael O'Shaughnessy earned his first college hit on a single to right field in the ninth.
