Wildcats Close Out Season with George Washington and La Salle

DAVIDSON, N.C - The Davidson College women's soccer team will round out the 2023 season on the road at George Washington Thursday before facing La Salle at Alumni Stadium Sunday.Â
The Wildcats and the Colonials are set for a 3 p.m. kickoff while Sunday's match versus the Explorers is scheduled to begin at 1:30 on the 'Cats home field.Â
Davidson enters the weekend with a 3-10-2 overall record and 0-6-2 mark in the Atlantic 10. While closing out the regular season, the 'Cats will look to secure their first league victory.Â
Thursday's contest will be a battle between two conference squads who look to secure their first Atlantic 10 win while Sunday's match up will be a test for Davidson as they look to upset the a second-ranked A-10 team.Â
The Wildcats' defense is led steadily by Emily Smith who carries a .765 save percentage, 1.27 goals against average and 62 saves into this weeks contests. Smith ranks eighth in saves, ninth in both GAA and save percentage in addition to having four shutouts.Â
Offensively Aleia Gislolfi-McCready leads the 'Cats with five points on two goals and one assist followed by Savannah Pruitt with a pair of goals. Shea Bonacci and SJ Pak each have one goal to their name this year while Riley Patton has a goal and assist.Â
Historically the Wildcats are 1-3-4 against George Washington dating back to the 2011 season. A win Thursday would be Davidson's first over the Colonials in 12 years.Â
The 'Cats are 1-4-1 in their last six matchups against the Explorers. Davidson won the most recent contest between the two teams by way of 1-0 shutout on the road in Philadelphia Oct. 23 2022.Â
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials are 3-10-3 overall and 0-7-1 in the Atlantic 10, having most recently lost 2-1 on the road at George Mason Oct. 15.Â
As a team, George Washington has 20 total goals and averages 1.3 per game.Â
The Colonials attack is led by Aoi Kataoka with nine points on one goal and seven assists as well as Kelly Poole with an identical nine points on three goals and three assists. 10 additional George Washington players have notched at least one goal this season.Â
GW has a trio of goalies who split time heading the defense in Grace Crowe (.774 save percentage, 2.77 GAA, 48 saves), Rose Hemans (.773 save percentage, 1.67 GAA, 34 saves) and Ainsley Lumpe (.727 save percentage, 1.82 GAA, 24 saves).Â

Currently on a seven-game winning streak, the Explorers are currently 9-5-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. La Salle is second in the most recent A-10 standings behind only Saint Louis.Â
Collectively, the Explorers are third in the league in scoring (30) and scoring average (1.9). However, La Salle has surrendered the fourth-most goals against in the conference with 22.Â
The Explorer offense is paced by three players with double-digit points in Haley Gschrey (13 points, 6 goals, 1 assist), Justyce Hollenbach (11 points, 5 goals, 1 assist) and Elizabeth Estrada (10 points, 3 goals, 4 assists).Â
Michela Auguadro has started in 13 of the 14 games she has appeared in and claims a 1.29 GAA, .750 save percentage and 51 saves.Â
