WILDCAT SCRATCHES

Davidson will play four of its next five on the road beginning with a noon tip at VCU Saturday.
The Wildcats enter 9-6 overall and 2-1 in Atlantic 10 play following an 80-57 victory over Loyola Wednesday night.
Since joining the A-10 in 2014-15, Davidson has won two regular season titles (2015, 2022), a tournament title (2018), made three NCAA Tournaments (2015, 2018, 2022) and totaled 93 league wins (11.3 per year).
The Wildcats have recorded an average finish of 4.0 in the 14-team conference and made the tournament semifinals each year.
Preseason all-conference selection Foster Loyer continues to lead the 'Cats in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game.
The red-shirt senior enters just 46 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
Loyer ranks among league leaders in scoring (17.3/7th), 3-pointers made (37/7th), free-throw percentage (.895/1st), 3-pointers per game (2.5/7th), assists per game (5.1/2nd) and steals per game (1.9/4th).
Sam Mennenga is also contributing double figures (15.7 ppg) for the 'Cats, while leading the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg).
Coming off his first career start, sophomore Desmond Watson is averaging 10.6 points over his last nine outings.
A year ago, Davidson and VCU met twice, just eight days apart with the road team winning by two points in each contest.

In what coach Matt McKillop called "easily our best performance start to finish" this year, the Davidson Wildcats cruised to an 80-57 Atlantic 10 win over league newcomer Loyola Chicago Wednesday night in Belk Arena.
Davidson led throughout, including 33-30 at the break, and extended its 39-37 lead with a 16-4 run early in the second half. The run was keyed by point guard Foster Loyer, who scored 12 of the points in the stretch en route to a 21-point night. Loyer was especially dangerous in the midrange, hitting four jumpers during the run that took the lead to 55-41. From there, the Wildcats led by double digits the rest of the way.
The Wildcats, who outscored the Ramblers 47-27 and shot 68 percent in the second half, got 22 points and seven rebounds from Sam Mennenga.
Fellow forward David Skogman gave the Wildcats a lift off the bench in the first half, scoring nine of 12 points in one stretch, and finished with 16. Guard Grant Huffman added 11 points and had two thunderous dunks on a night Davidson finished with five.
Davidson shot 19-of-22 (86.4 percent) at the foul line, including 5-of-6 nights from Mennenga and Skogman and a 4-of-4 effort from Loyer.
Bryce Golden led Loyola with 13 points, while Philip Alston scored 12.
