ROCK HILL, S.C. — Aleia Gisolfi-McCready's first goal of the season came at a good time Sunday evening and helped the Davidson women's soccer team earn a 1-0 win at Winthrop.
It's the fourth straight shutout victory for the Wildcats, who improved to a program-best 5-0-1.
Gisolfi-McCready's goal came in the 82nd minute when she angled in and finished a Hailey Braemer cross.
"Great service into the box by Hailey and great run by Aleia," said coach Adam Denton. "I felt that we did a good job controlling the ball for large periods of the game, just lacked that final quality in the final third. In the second half, we continued to put them under pressure, created some chances and kept on working toward what was the game-winner."
The goal came on the Wildcats' ninth and final shot on goal against Eagles keeper Izzy Giarrizzi who made numerous challenging saves.

The Wildcats will play their next three at home, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest against UNC-Asheville on Thursday, Sept. 8.
