DAVIDSON — The 1-0 wins are stacking up for the Davidson women's soccer team.
The Wildcats picked up another one — their fourth straight — Thursday night at Alumni Stadium, with the lone score of the night coming on a UNC Asheville own goal in the 27th minute.
Davidson improved to 6-0-1 with the victory after posting a 10-2 advantage in shots and a 6-0 lead in corner kicks.
"We were fortunate in how we scored — it was a decent ball in from behind, but a miscommunication from their defender and goalkeeper, and we took the lead," said coach Adam Denton. "The second half was better. We defended a lot better, but we weren't clinical enough in the final third. We created some chances, but didn't make the most of the chances that we had. It's good to still get a victory and another shutout, but we're a little disappointed with our overall performance."
It was the team's fifth shutout of the season. In all, the Wildcats have won their last six games, including wins over Furman, Wofford and Winthrop also by the 1-0 margin.
