CHARLESTON, S.C. — Davidson was limited to two base hits Saturday afternoon in a 19-0 loss at The Citadel.
The Wildcats' only base knocks came in the eighth inning, when freshmen Tyler Douglas and Ryan Wilson hit back-to-back two-out singles to left.
The Bulldogs took control in the third inning, scoring seven runs on five hits and a Wildcat error. Ryan McCarthy's three-run home run was the highlight and made it 8-0. The Citadel also had a four-run sixth inning and a five-run eighth.
Davidson starter Blake Hely threw three innings, allowing three earned runs and eight hits, while walking two and striking out six.
The Citadel's Cameron Reeves threw six no-hit innings, striking out nine, before handing the ball to the bullpen.
