Wildcats Sweep Saturday Doubleheader Vs. Siena

DAVIDSON – A full day of baseball resulted in two wins for the Davidson Wildcats Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
Davidson improved to 11-3 with a doubleheader sweep of Siena (0-14) by scores of 2-0 and 6-1.
The series finale is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wilson Field.
Game 1
Gabe Levy threw 8.2 innings and set the tone from the mound in a 2-0 Wildcats' victory.
The right-hander allowed five hits and struck out five, while improving to 3-1. Twice he retired seven batters in a row.
Davidson took the lead in the fifth when Matthew Gravely's single to left field scored Jacob Hinderleider, who had doubled. The Wildcats generated a run in the sixth, beginning with a leadoff bunt single by Brett Centracchio. Greg Lowe followed with a single to left, and Zach Nussbaum's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners. Centracchio then scored on Henry Koehler's sacrifice fly to right.
Bennett Flynn came on for Levy with one on and two outs in the ninth and forced a groundout to end it and notch his third save.
Game 2
Solo home runs by Ruben Fontes and Matt Frey ignited the Davidson offense in a 6-1 victory.
Fontes' sky high home run to right field to lead off the fourth inning tied the game at 1-1. Then Frey went deep to center with two outs in the fifth to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in what turned into a four-run inning. Centracchio and Fontes followed with RBI-singles, and Garrett Browder's RBI-double down the left field line made it 5-1.
The Wildcats added a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to right by Lowe.
Starter Blake Hely threw six innings, allowing one run and six hits. He struck out six and improved to 3-0.
Nolan DeVos pitched the final three frames without allowing a hit. He struck out five and earned his second save.
