Wildcats Shut Out Hoyas, Remain Unbeaten

DAVIDSON — Gabe Levy and Jacob Peaden combined to pitch a shutout, and Davidson remained unbeaten with a 5-0 win over Georgetown Friday night at Wilson Field.
Also the starter on opening day, Levy threw seven innings for the second straight game and struck out nine Hoyas after fanning 10 against Lehigh on Feb. 15. The sophomore from Seattle is yet to allow an earned run.
"I just had a lot of confidence tonight, was having a lot of fun out there," said Levy. "It's early in the season, fun to be back out there, was just attacking. I felt pretty confident with everything. It's easy to feel confident with the way they're playing behind me."
Peaden, a freshman from Greenville, made his third appearance and recorded his second save. He struck out three in the final two innings without allowing a hit.
"He shut the door like he's been doing," said Levy.
The Wildcats (5-0) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, after a hit, a walk and two wild pitches. Brett Centracchio scored on a Trevor Candelaria groundout, and Walker Imwalle came in moments later on the second wild pitch.
Davidson extended its lead with three runs on four hits in the eighth. After Alex Fedje-Johnson and Matt Frey singled to lead off the inning, Parker Nolan reached on a bunt single. Ruben Fontes drew a walk with the bases loaded, and three batters later, Candelaria drove in two runs with a single to left.
