DAVIDSON, N.C. -- A late Richmond run proved to be the difference in a tight Atlantic 10 Conference contest Wednesday night in Belk Arena, as Davidson fell 80-74 to the Spiders.
Junior forward Luka Brajkovic turned in his first double-double of the year, and matched his career-high with 14 rebounds, but Davidson (5-4, 1-1 A-10) struggled to generate offense down the stretch, failing to score for more than three minutes.
Davidson led 72-69 with 3:28 to play following a layup by Hyunjung Lee, but Richmond (7-2, 1-0 A-10) scored 11 unanswered points from there. The Wildcats, meanwhile, missed their next five shots until Sam Mennenga scored off an offensive rebound to break the drought with two seconds left.
Brajkovic also scored 14 points and had a double-double by halftime, with 11 points and 12 boards in the opening 20 minutes.
Lee led the Wildcats with 17 points, while Mennenga finished with 13 and Carter Collins had 12. Michael Jones provided a lift with nine points off the bench.
Four Spiders scored in double figures, including Grant Golden, who scored 22, and Tyler Burton, who had 18 points and 11 boards.
