The Davidson baseball team is set to host its final home series of the season this weekend, as the Saint Louis Billikens visit Wilson Field for a three-game set.
Â
The series begins Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Â
The Wildcats (19-17) are 8-4 against Atlantic 10 foes and tied with Rhode Island for third in the standings.
Â
The Billikens (17-21, 6-6) are the reigning A-10 champions and were the coaches' preseason pick to win the league in 2019. Billikens pitcher Cody Luther, set to start the second game of the series, threw a no-hitter against St. Bonaventure on April 13.
Â
Davidson leads the all-time series 8-7. The teams split four meetings a year ago, with Davidson winning two of three in a regular season road series and the Billikens topping the Wildcats en route to the A-10 tournament title.

No walks in the park
Senior right-handed pitcher Casey Sutherland, who is slated to start the series opener, leads the nation in walks per nine innings with a mark of 0.54. Sutherland has thrown 49.2 innings and walked three — one batter each against La Salle, VCU and N.C. Central.
Â
Sutherland (6-0) also ranks second nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (14.33) with 43 strikeouts to three walks.
Â
In his last outing April 20, Sutherland threw the first complete-game shutout of his career and struck out seven at George Washington.
Â
Â
Frey's numbers stacking up
Matt Frey's reached-base streak is now 31 games after he extended it with a first-inning single at Presbyterian Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Frey, a left-handed hitter, was also hit by a pitch for the 14th time this season, which is two shy of the single-season program mark set by Brett Boretti in 1994.
Â
Â
Home run hitters
Davidson and Richmond are tied for the A-10 lead with 41 home runs, while Wildcats sophomore designated hitter Ruben Fontes continues to lead the individual league tally with 10 homers.
Â
Justin Lebek is second on the team with seven home runs, including a two-run shot at Presbyterian Tuesday.
Â
The Wildcats have homered in 24 of 36 games and hit four against Towson Feb. 15, La Salle March 24 and Rhode Island April 14.
Â
Â
Jones setting the tone
Eric Jones is leading the Wildcats in multiple offensive categories, while splitting time at catcher and third base.
Â
Jones has team-bests in batting average (.348), on-base percentage (.445), slugging percentage (.565), hits (48), doubles (13) and total bases (78).
Â
Â
Senior day is Sunday
The Wildcats will recognize 10 seniors prior to Sunday's game. They include Jones, Lebek, Sutherland, Allen Barry, Max Bazin, Ward Coleman, Josh Hudson, Austin Leonard, Sam Reinertsen and Dan Spear.
Â
The members of the 2019 class enter the weekend having been part of the winningest era of Davidson baseball, including 115 wins the last four years and the 2017 A-10 and NCAA Regional championships.
