DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson returns home to finish out the month of August with a contest against Mercer Friday night under the lights at Alumni Stadium in non-conference women's soccer play.

The Matchup ...
Davidson, entering its 30th year of women's soccer, will welcome the Mercer Bears (2-1-1, 0-0 SoCon) at Alumni Stadium Friday, Aug. 31, for a 7 p.m. contest.

"Pups at the Pitch" ...
Friday's game will be "Pups at the Pitch" as all dogs are FREE to get in, with one dog per adult. The first 150 fans with dogs will get a FREE Wildcat Bandana for their dog. Owner will be required to sign a waiver for their dog before ending the stadium.

The All-Time Series/Last Meetings ...
The game vs. Mercer will be the seventh meeting all-time between both schools, with Davidson trailing the series 4-2. The last meeting occurred in 2008 at Mercer, with Kyri Bye-Nagel scoring the game-winner in the second half and the Wildcat defense made good on the single goal by picking up the shutout win.

A-10 Preseason ...
The Atlantic 10 preseason poll came out earlier this week and the Saint Louis Billikens were chosen as the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorite in a vote conducted by the league's 14 head coaches. The league's head coaches also voted for an 11-member preseason all-conference team.

The Billikens (15-3-2, 7-2-1 A-10 last year) earned 192 votes and ten first-place tallies to take the top spot in the rankings. La Salle ranked second in the predicted order of finish with 184 points and four first-place votes, followed by Duquesne and George Mason, who each tallied 145 votes to round out the top four spots. Davidson received 36 votes and was tied with St. Bonaventure for 12th place.

Previous Game ...
East Carolina spoiled Davidson's chance to make it three straight wins by taking a 2-1 decision last Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats scored the first goal, but two second-half goals allowed ECU to keep its unbeaten streak intact to start the year.

•Davidson is coming off a 1-1 road trip last weekend, scoring a win at Gardner-Webb, 2-0, before falling to ECU
•Alexis Pheng paces the team with two goals and four points, getting her second goal at Gardner-Webb
•Perry Zollicoffer has a career-high three assists, while fellow senior Natalie Connell has a goal and an assist
•Michele Maceaux had a team-high 10 shots
•Mary Grace Bunch has started three of the four games played, stopping 15 shots and is 2-1
•Davidson is 1-1 at home this year, scoring a 3-2 overtime win against USC Upstate, Aug. 20

•Abigail Zoeller has two goals and two assists for six points as well.
•In goal, Jordyn Ebert has started all four games and owns a 0.91 goals against average to go with 13 saves.
•The Bears went 10-10-1 a year ago, with a 3-5-1 mark in the Southern Conference.
•They return 20 letterwinners and eight starters.
•Ally Fordham returns as the top returning scorer, having scored six goals to go with two assists for 14 points.
•Friday's game wraps up a three-game road trip for the Bears.
