‘Cats Fall Short on the Road at East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina spoiled Davidson's chance to make it three straight wins by taking a 2-1 decision Sunday afternoon on its home field in women's soccer at Johnson Stadium.
The Wildcats, who fell to 2-2 on the season, scored the first goal, but two second-half goals allowed ECU to keep its unbeaten streak intact to start the year at 2-0-2.

• The matchup with East Carolina was the eighth meeting all-time since 1997 and the Pirates have won all eight games now.
•The two teams were playing each other for the sixth time in the past eight years.
•Alexis Pheng headed in her second goal of the season at the 27:44 mark to give the Wildcats to earn 1-0 lead.
•Assisting on the goal off a corner kick was senior Perry Zollicoffer, who earned her third assist on the year to set a personal best.

Disappointing in the manner we conceded the goals in the second half, as they were preventable on our end. We can learn from this as we prepare for another two games this weekend."
Davidson returns home for a 7 p.m. game against Mercer this coming Friday, Aug. 31.
