SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Since facing Winthrop in early March, the Eagles have gone 8-6 to post an overall record of 17-20. Winthrop is coming off dropping its final two games in a three-game series with league opponent Radford, and is still led by senior Mitch Spires' .318 clip. Sophomore Scout McFalls tops the team with five long balls, and the Eagles are hitting a collective .263 as a team.

The squad is likely to use a variety of arms from its bullpen Tuesday, who have a 4.99 team ERA but have struck out over 300 batters.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is 13-30-1 all-time against the Eagles after suffering their first shutout of the year earlier this season against Winthrop in Rock Hill. Despite outhitting the Eagles through the first eight innings, the 'Cats lost 3-0 in early March. Ward Coleman, Max Bazin, and Alex Mardiney each had multi-hit affairs. The two faced last year in Uptown Charlotte, with the 'Cats winning in extra-inning walk-off fashion.

LAST TIME OUT
Davidson picked up its third consecutive series this past weekend, taking two-of-three games from Saint Joseph's on the road. The 'Cats clobbered the Hawks in the opening game, winning 18-6 as four players homered, including Mardiney, blasting his first and second collegiate round trippers over the weekend. He also doubled twice and drove in eight runs over the three games.

Junior Eric Jones was the other key element in the 'Cats weekend, scoring six runs across the three games while homering his team-leading eighth and doubling twice. He matched a career-high four hits in Friday's victory.

Senior Connor Gordon delivered a dynamic relief outing in the rubbermatch finale, tossing six shutout frames, scattering just two hits and striking out six en route to his fifth win of the year. Gordon ranks third in the country in ERA and leads the league.

THE MOUND MATCHUP
Tuesday, 6:00 PM: RHP Pete Bloomberg (First Career Start) (3.50 ERA, 12 app., 18 IP, 13 K) vs. LHP Jason Crumley (2.49 ERA, 13 app., 2 GS, 21.2 IP, 26 K)

UP NEXT
The Wildcats travel to Richmond to face A-10 foes the Spiders in a three-game stint beginning Friday, April 20.
