BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Jack Gibbs scored 29 points, Peyton Aldridge recorded his fifth double-double (17 pts, 10 rebs) and Davidson rallied from 12 down in the second half to defeat St. Bonaventure in overtime, 90-86, Friday evening in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Tournament at the Barclays Center.
The Wildcats will play second-seeded VCU in Saturday's semifinals at 4 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
With 11 seconds left in regulation, Aldridge was fouled attempting a 3-pointer and converted all three free throws to force the extra session.
The Wildcats, who trailed 61-49 midway through the second half and 70-61 with 5:31 to play, chipped away at the deficit and cut it to one, 73-72, on a Brian Sullivan trey with 2:11 remaining. Marcus Posley pushed the margin back to 75-72 with a layup before Aldridge was fouled on the next possession.
Sullivan, who hit a deep 3-pointer a minute into overtime to give Davidson (20-11) the lead for good, added 15 points, while Jordan Barham came off the bench to score 13 in 15 minutes.
Davidson, which committed just 5 turnovers on the evening, began overtime with an 8-2 spurt, capped off by Sullivan and Jordan Watkins' treys.
Posley and Dion Wright led St. Bonaventure (22-8) with 32 points each. Wright also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season.
As a team, Davidson shot just 41.9 percent overall, but drilled 11 3-pointers, including 3-of-5 in overtime. The Bonnies finished with a 46.7 percent clip and held a 47-46 edge on the glass.
Davidson used a 16-5 spurt to build a 29-22 advantage with 5:32 to play in the first period, but the Bonnies closed on a 15-3 run of their own to take a 37-32 lead into the half.
With the victory, the Wildcats have hit the 20-win plateau under head coach Bob McKillop 14 times, including 10 of the last 12 seasons.
