FAIRFAX, Va. – Jalen Jenkins' put back with less than two seconds to play lifted George Mason to a 60-59 victory over Davidson in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday at EagleBank Arena.
After the Wildcats used a 20-2 streak to grab their first lead and go up, 57-51, with 2:29 to play, the Patriots closed on a 9-2 spurt.
Jenkins led four George Mason (9-16, 3-9 A-10) players in double figures with 17 points off the bench. DeAndre Abram added 11, while Marko Gujanicic and Shevon Thompson had 10 each. Thompson also grabbed 10 rebounds for his 24th career double-double.
Despite the loss, Jack Gibbs paced the Wildcats with 30 points.
The Patriots, who led 49-37 with 12:05 remaining, finished with a 44-36 advantage on the glass.
George Mason raced out to a 17-4 lead before going to the break up, 29-22. In addition to shooting just 30.3 percent in the first half, Davidson went 0-of-9 from behind the arc in the period.
Davidson (14-9, 6-6 A-10) shot just 39.7 percent overall, which included a 5-of-22 effort from 3-point range.
