ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – In addition to a late run, St. Bonaventure got a career-high 30 points from Jaylen Adams as the Bonnies defeated Davidson, 97-85, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday evening at the Reilly Center.
After the Wildcats built a 69-64 advantage, St. Bonaventure (9-3, 1-0 A-10) responded with a 22-7 streak to retake the lead and put the game out of reach.
Adams, one of five Bonnies in double figures, went 7-of-13 from the floor, 5-of-8 behind the 3-point arc and was a perfect 11-for-11 at the charity stripe.
As a team, St. Bona was 26-of-34 at the line.
Marcus Posley (19), Denzel Gregg (13), Dion Wright (12) and Derrick Woods (11) also went over the 10-point plateau for St. Bonaventure.
Making his first career start, Jordan Watkins led the Wildcats with a personal-best 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including six of his club's 11 3-pointers. Peyton Aldridge and Jack Gibbs added 18 points each, while Andrew McAuliffe had 11 off the bench for Davidson.
The Bonnies shot 60 percent in the second half to finish the game at 51.7 percent.
Davidson (8-4, 0-1 A-10), which got double figures from both Gibbs (15) and Watkins (11) in the opening period, closed the half with five straight points to tie the score, 43-43, at the break.
St. Bonaventure held a 38-33 edge on the glass.
Despite the loss, the Wildcats finished with 22 assists on 29 made field goals, but shot 44.6 percent overall.
