DAVIDSON, N.C. – After being down 9-0 heading into eighth, the Davidson baseball team rallied back for a 10-9 win over the Saint Louis Billikens Saturday afternoon in game two of the weekend series at Wilson Field. First baseman David Daniels' walk-off single to left field secured the win for the Wildcats.
The victory improved Davidson to 13-8 overall and 3-2 in the league, while Saint Louis fell to 16-10 and 3-2 in the A-10.
Despite being outhit, 15-11, the Wildcats only committed two errors, while the Billikens notched five that were all in the last five innings of the contest. DH Ryan Lowe led the squad with two runs, two hits and two RBI, while left fielder Will Robertson followed with two runs, two hits and one RBI in four at bats.
A run in the seventh inning for the Billikens made it a 9-0 ball game, before the 'Cats notched eight runs, including five with two outs, in the eighth that made it a contest. Davidson scored its eight runs off six hits and a Billiken error with catcher Tyler Agard highlighting the inning with a two-RBI triple to center field in his first at bat.
A fielding error by the Saint Louis shortstop started off a tough ninth inning for the Billikens, but Davidson would get just one run in the stint that consisted of three walks and three wild pitches.
After a scoreless 10th inning, Saint Louis stranded two in its final at bat, while a two-out error put third baseman Ben Arkin on base for Davidson. Following a Lowe single to right field, Daniels stepped up to clinch the come-from-behind win for the 'Cats.
