DAVIDSON, N.C. – After winning its home opener 6-2, Davidson scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally past Georgetown, 12-11, and sweep Sunday's non-conference doubleheader at Wilson Field.

The Wildcats, who have won four games in their final at bat this season, improve to 5-2 overall, while the Hoyas fall to 1-5.

Davidson will continue its nine-game homestand with a 6 p.m. first pitch against Elon Wednesday evening.

Game 1 Recap
In addition to Alec Acosta going 2-for-4 with two RBI, Clark Beeker turned in another solid start as Davidson defeated Georgetown, 6-2, in its home opener Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field.

Beeker (1-0) tossed 6 1/3 innings allowing just two runs (1 earned) and five hits, while striking out six to pick up his first win of the 2015 campaign.

Like Acosta, Jake Sidwell, Lee Miller and Andrew Pope finished with two hits each for the Wildcats in game one.

Georgetown grabbed a 1-0 lead in the opening inning when Ryan Busch singled and later scored on a pair of Davidson errors.

Acosta tied the game in the bottom of the second with an RBI groundout to third that plated Miller, who led off the inning with a double to center.

After another RBI single from Acosta in the fourth, the Wildcats tacked on one more in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the lead for good.

Matt Hollenbeck (0-2) suffered the loss for Georgetown giving up three runs in five innings of work, while walking three and fanning six.

Game 2 Recap
Davidson scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally past Georgetown, 12-11, in game two of Sunday's doubleheader at Wilson Field.

Trailing 11-9, the Wildcats made it one-run game on a Lee Miller RBI single and tied the score when Ryan Lowe was plated on a wild pitch.

Alec Acosta, who drove in two runs in the opener, provided the game-winner with a RBI single back up the middle that scored David Daniels.

After falling behind 6-4, Davidson scored three in the bottom of the fourth and five in the next inning to go ahead, 9-7. The Hoyas made it a one-run game in the sixth and added three more in the top of the eighth to retake the lead, 11-9.

Lowe led the way for the Wildcats in game two going 3-for-4 with two walks, two RBI and three runs scored. Miller finished with a pair of base knocks, four RBI and two walks, while Ty Middlebrooks and Andrew Pope also had multiple-hit games for Davidson, which combined for 13 hits.

Freshman Josh Smutzer (1-0) worked out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth and pitched a scoreless ninth to record his first career win.

Jake Kuzbel and Eric Webber led the Hoyas' 12-hit attack with two hits and three runs each.

Simon Matthews (0-1), who pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief for Georgetown, gave up three runs and walked five, while suffering his first setback of the year.
