GENEVA, Ohio – After a thrilling final day of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championships, Davidson finished its inaugural showing in fourth-place. The Wildcats end the A-10 Championships with 437 points, trailing Duquesne (479) in third, Massachusetts (498) in second and Richmond (586) in first place.
Elise Lankiewicz was named Most Outstanding Performer. The sophomore finished the four-day event with three individual titles in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle and first-place finishes in the 800 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
After three student-athletes qualified for the 100-yard freestyle earlier in the afternoon, Davidson didn't disappoint as Elise Lankiewicz claimed her third individual crown of the championships. The sophomore raced to a 49.83 first place time. Not far behind was teammate Meredith Nakano, who touched the wall in 50.47 to find a spot on the podium in third. Kassie Shannon finished in seventh-place clocking a 51.16. In all, Davidson picked up 48 crucial team points in the finals.
The Wildcats capped off their 2015 A-10 championships with a first-place finish in the speedy 4x400-freestyle relay. The Davidson quarter of Shannon, Nakano, Lankiewicz and Angie Healy clocked a 3:20.35 to set a new A-10 conference and meet record.
Sophomore Katy Williams continued her strong run in the Championship, claiming fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke. Williams touched the wall in 2:17.50.
Senior Anna Bullock capped off her Davidson career with an eighth-place performance in the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 2:07.30. Bullock also took a sixth place finish in the lengthy 1,650-yard freestyle event.
