Lankiewicz Claims Crown as ‘Cats Climb into a Tie for Third

GENEVA, Ohio – With a strong second in the pool during the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championships, the Davidson women's swimming and move into a tie for third-place with Fordham. The Wildcat's 170 points leaves Davidson trailing Richmond (192) and Massachusetts (219) heading into the third day of competition.
Elise Lankiewicz had a stellar day between the lanes, setting a new season-best in the 500-freestyle. The sophomore swam her way onto the top of the podium with a 4:50.36, to become the first individual A-10 conference champion in program history. Anna Blair Bullock grabbed first in the consolation heat, touching the wall in 4:56.48 as well.
After setting a conference record in the 800-freestlye relay the night before, Davidson's quartet of Kassie Shannon, Meredith Nakano, Angie Healy and Lankiewicz collected a first-place finish. At 1:32.28, the Wildcats foursome finished less than a second ahead of second place Richmond.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Shannon and Healy added more crucial points for the Wildcats with back-to-back finishes in seventh and eighth place, grabbing 23 points for Davidson in the process. Shannon clocked a 23.59, while Healy touched the wall in 23.63.
The Wildcats return to the pool tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for the third day of A-10 Championships.
