Lankiewicz Claims Title on Day 3 of A-10 Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – After Day 3 of the 2014 Women's Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships, Davidson remains in the top-half of the conference with strong performances across the board. The Wildcats grabbed five top-five finishes, including Elise Lankiewicz's second individual conference title of the weekend.
With 286 total points, the Wildcats trail Fordham by a mere 10 points (296), Duquesne (333), Richmond (409) and Massachusetts (411) heading into the final day of competition. Behind Davidson sits George Mason (268), La Salle (215), Saint Louis (158), Rhode Island (111), St. Bonaventure (92) and George Washington (67) to round out the Atlantic 10.
Another great showing for Davidson came from Elise Lankiewicz in the 200-yard freestyle. Into the finals, Lankiewicz swam blazingly fast to collect her second individual conference crown, swimming a 1:48.20. Behind her, Angie Healy posted a person best 1:49.97 split, taking home fifth.
To wrap up the evening, Davidson posted another strong relay time. The 400-medley relay foursome took fourth with the lightning finish. Lankiewicz, Williams, Nakano and Kassie Shannon combined for a swim of 3:44.98, to set a new Davidson program record and close out a successful day in the pool.
Katy Williams represented Davidson well with a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. The sophomore touched the wall in 1:03.20. Meredith Nakano wasn't far behind, posting a 1:03.50 in the heat to collect a fifth-place finish.
Nakano continued her strong performance with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Nakano touched the wall in 55.05 to grab 15 points for the Wildcats.
Davidson returns to the pool for the final day of competition tomorrow at 10 a.m.
