Patrick Earns Win for Davidson in Loss to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Senior Scott Patrick battled to a 3-2 decision at 184 pounds to earn Davidson's lone victory in a 36-3 loss against first-place Chattanooga at Maclellan Gym Friday afternoon.
Patrick scored an early takedown in the first period and an escape at the start of the third frame to earn a hard fought 3-2 decision over John Shrader.
Anthony Elias put up a fight at 133 lbs., but couldn't overcome No. 12 Nick Soto and dropped the bout by a score of 8-3. The win gave the Mocs a 9-0 lead as the Wildcats were forced to forfeit at 125.
The Mocs went on to win each of the next six weight classes, including three wins with bonus points, to take control of the match.
Patrick put Davidson on the board at 184 lbs., to bring the score to 28-3. The fifth-year senior picks up his third straight win to improve to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in SoCon action.
Senior Ian Solcz dropped a 9-3 decision at 197 lbs., to Scottie Boykin and freshman Will Cooley fell at heavyweight class for the final margin.
The Wildcats return to action Sunday to host Gardner-Webb and American at Belk Arena. The matches can be seen live online beginning at 1 p.m.
