CHARLESTON, S.C. – No. 3 seed Samford scored seven unanswered runs to rally past No. 2 seed Davidson, 7-3, in the Wildcats' second game of the 2014 Southern Conference Baseball Tournament Thursday night in Riley Park.

Davidson (29-18) will now play No. 6 seed Wofford (31-27) in an elimination game Friday at 6:30 p.m.

First baseman Caleb Bryson (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBIs) and right fielder Heath Quinn (2-for-4, 3B, 2 RBIs) paced the Samford (34-24) offense, with Bryson putting the Bulldogs ahead for good with a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

Four Bulldog pitchers combined to hold the Wildcats to just five hits, led by RHP Parker Curry (7-2), who allowed just one run on four hits and two walks in four innings, striking out six.

Catcher Daniel Gerow went 2-for-4 to lead Davidson at the plate, while centerfielder Forrest Brandt (1-for-3, 2B), right fielder Nathan Becker (1-for-2, 2 BB) and shortstop Sam Foy (0-for-2, BB, SF) had an RBI each.

The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, as Becker drew a bases-loaded walk and Foy hit a sacrifice fly. An RBI-single by Brandt in the top of the fifth gave the 'Cats a 3-0 advantage.

However, Samford scored four unearned runs in the bottom half after an error extended the inning. Quinn hit an RBI-single for the first run, and then with two on, Bryson homered to left field for a 4-3 lead.

RHP Nick Neitzel (7-2) suffered the loss, allowing five runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

Davidson left 11 runners on base, leaving the bases loaded in the third.

A solo home run in the sixth inning by third baseman Tripp Martin (1-for-4), and then an RBI-triple by Quinn and an RBI-double by Bryson in the seventh, resulted in the final margin.
