DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson men's basketball freshman JP Kuhlman has been named to the Mid-Major Freshman All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com.
He is the first Wildcat rookie to earn the honor since Stephen Curry in 2007.
Kuhlman was selected the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year by the league's head coaches after starting 24 of Davidson's 31 games while averaging 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per outing.
The 6-foot-4 guard ranked 13th overall in the SoCon in scoring (12.6 ppg), eighth in assists (3.3 apg), 12th in free-throw percentage (.720), fourth in 3-point percentage (.415), 10th in assist to turnover ratio and eighth in minutes played (33.2 mpg).
Among SoCon freshman, Kuhlman ranked second in scoring, first in assists, first in free-throw percentage, first in 3-point percentage and first in minutes played. He scored in double figures 22 times and led the team in scoring in eight contests. Kuhlman led the team in assists in 14 contests.
Davidson finished the season 16-15 overall and 11-7 in league play. The Wildcats return three starters, eight lettermen and four of their top six scorers from the 2009-10 team.
