Box Score

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Junior Steve Rossiter scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to key the Davidson Wildcats to a 75-60 win over the Furman Paladins Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference action at Timmons Arena.

Rossiter and sophomore Brendan McKillop each scored all 10 of their points in the second half, helping Davidson (22-4, 15-1) overcome a 36-35 halftime deficit.

Four Wildcats finished in double figures, as junior Stephen Curry added 25 on 6-for-15 shooting, and Andrew Lovedale chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds.

Jordan Miller led the attack for Furman (6-19, 4-12), scoring 20 points on 5-for-15 shooting, and Bryson Barnes finished with 17 going 8-for-13.

Curry left the game halfway through the second half with a twisted left ankle and did not return. The Wildcats, leading 60-55 at the time, gave up just five points the rest of the game.

Furman's Brandon Sebirumbi hit the first basket of the game, but the Wildcats answered with 13 straight points, including six of Curry's 16 first-half points.

Connor Nolte hit a breakaway three to stop the Wildcats' run with 13:45 in the half and the Paladins rallied with an 11-6 run to close to 19-13. Furman cut the lead to six, and Miller trimmed it to three, 28-25, with six to play in the first period.

A Lovedale putback would push the 'Cats' lead back to six, 35-29, but the Paladins closed the half with a 9-0 run to take the lead, 36-35, as Barnes converted on an inbounds play with five seconds on the clock.

Rossiter hit a pair of free throws in the opening seconds of the second half to put Davidson up, 37-36. After the Paladins took a momentary one-point lead, their only of the half, he converted on an and-one play to knot the score at 40-40 with just over 18 left.

The 'Cats scored the next four points on a Ben Allison dunk and a breakaway layup from junior Bryant Barr, and continued to build on the lead over the next 10 minutes.

Curry made a pair from the line to give Davidson a 59-52 lead with 10 to go, and Davidson used a 9-2 run, punctuated by a three from Pauhlus Gosselin, to take command, 68-57, with three minutes remaining, en route to the 75-60 win.

Davidson returns to Belk Arena for the first of a four-game homestand, taking on The Citadel Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
