Wildcats Host Longwood Friday

With two wins to its credit, the Davidson field hockey team returns to action Friday when it hosts Longwood and starts a two-game weekend that also includes a visit to Ohio.
Friday's contest will begin at 5 p.m. at Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field.
LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Davidson is 2-3 after going 1-1 last weekend, including a 6-0 win over Stonehill and a 1-0 overtime loss at Maine.
• Forward Lourdes Wolf leads the Wildcats with four goals, including two in the Sept. 5 neutral-site win over Stonehill.
• Wolf ranks third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring and is tied for 16th nationally.
• In all, eight Wildcats have scored goals, also including Ise Adams, Matilda Collins, Ellie Johnson, Sophie Rousseau, Liv Goeke, Eva van der Kooi and Emily Najarian.
• Goalkeeper Avery Foster ranks second in the A10 in goals-against average (0.55) and saves percentage (.846).
• Last year, the Wildcats topped Longwood 2-0 in Davidson, ending a stretch of 13 straight Longwood wins in the series.
SCOUTING THE LANCERS
• Longwood, of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), enters 0-3 after losses to Queens, William & Mary and, most recently, a 6-0 loss to Richmond last Sunday.
• Channy Johnson, Caitlin Carraway and Brenna Kadjeski have scored goals.
• Goalkeeper Sophie Mooldijk posted a career-best 21 saves against Richmond.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
• Ohio, also of the MAC, is idle until the Wildcats visit Sunday, and the Bobcats are 2-2, with wins over Saint Louis and Queens.
• Deborah James and Tori Cisney have scored three and two goals, respectively.
• Davidson has won two of the last three against Ohio, including 4-2 at home last season.
• That was the Wildcats' fourth win in a five-game win streak in 2025, their longest since 2010.
