Manjooran Earns Second A-10 Rookie Honor

WASHINGTON — After hitting .471 in a 4-0 week, Davidson's Matt Manjooran has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
It's the second honor of the season for Manjooran, a freshman from Camas, Wash. His first came on Feb. 17.
Against Queens and St. Bonaventure, Manjooran went 8-for-17 with seven RBIs, two doubles, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs. Having played mostly at second base and in the outfield this year, he played at first base throughout the series sweep of St. Bonaventure.
"Jerry has been wonderful this year and had a great week," said Davidson coach Rucker Taylor. "And he did it while playing a new position."
This season, Manjooran leads the Wildcats with a .347 average, a 1.002 OPS, eight doubles, three triples, 69 total bases and 38 RBIs. He's also hit four home runs, second-most on the team.
Manjooran and the Wildcats, now 18-15 overall, will play at South Carolina on Tuesday evening.
