GREENSBORO — Davidson second baseman Eli Putnam has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division I Atlantic All-Region First Team, the ABCA announced Tuesday.

It's the fourth postseason honor for Putnam, who completed his Davidson career in May. He was previously named to the Atlantic 10 Conference First Team, All-Academic Team and All-Championship Team.

"Very deserving recognition for Put," said Davidson coach Rucker Taylor. "He's had a great career for us and an exceptional stretch the last two seasons. We're going to miss him."

Putnam was an all-around offensive threat this season and led the Wildcats with 84 hits, 72 runs scored, 19 home runs, 159 total bases and 13 stolen bases. His runs total set a single-season program record, and he finished two round-trippers shy of matching the program mark.

Putnam hit .349 with a 1.079 OPS and 18 doubles, and his 62 RBIs matched the previous school record in a year Michael O'Shaughnessy set the new mark at 70.

Putnam drew national attention in late March following a weekend series against VCU, when he hit .800 (12-for-15) with five home runs, two doubles, 10 runs and 14 RBIs. Along with A-10 weekly honors, he was named the Golden Spikes Award National Player of the Week and the Perfect Game National Player of the Week.

Putnam finished his Davidson career with 35 home runs (second in program history) and a .642 slugging percentage (third).
