
Wildcats Cruise Past Mercyhurst, 80-47

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Behind shooting 60.8 percent from the floor, Davidson cruised past Mercyhurst, 80-47, Saturday afternoon inside John M. Belk Arena.
Josh Scovens led the way for the 'Cats with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Parker Friedrichsen added 13 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals, while Nick Coval scored 10.
In addition to holding the Lakers to just 40 percent from the floor, Davidson (8-2) held a commanding 39-17 margin on the glass.
The Wildcats also finished with 17 assists and got 37 points from its bench.
Davidson raced out to a 12-2 lead and closed the opening 20 minutes on a 22-6 streak to carry a 36-15 advantage into the half.
The lead grew to as many as 37 with just under a minute to play.
Bernie Blunt led the way for Mercyhurst (4-7) with 15.

Davidson will conclude its homestand Thursday evening when Temple visits Belk Arena for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
