DAVIDSON, N.C. – Josh Scovens scored a season-high 21 points and Davidson used a lengthy run to pull away from North Carolina A&T 90-74 in non-conference men's basketball action Friday afternoon inside John M. Belk Arena.
A junior transfer from Army West Point, Scovens finished 7-of-12 from the floor to go along with 8 rebounds.
Freshman Ian Platteeuw stuffed the stat sheet once again, recording 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Sam Brown (13) and Nick Coval (10) also scored in double figures for the 'Cats.
After a back-and-forth start, Davidson (6-1) closed the opening period on an 18-6 run, capped by a Roberts Blums' triple at the buzzer, to lead 47-38 at the half.
The Wildcats carried their momentum into the final 20 minutes, scoring the first eight points of the second half, and eventually stretched the margin to as many as 21 in the closing minutes.
In addition to its game-changing 26-6 streak, Davidson shot 56.4 percent, including an 8-of-17 effort from long range.
Lewis Walker led the way for North Carolina A&T (3-2) with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
The two teams combined to shoot 65 free throws but struggled from the stripe. The Wildcats finished just 20-of-35, while the Aggies weren't much better, going 18-of-30.
