
Schomberg Named California League Pitcher of the Week

Former Davidson baseball standout Will Schomberg '23 has been named California League Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The honor is the first for Schomberg, who pitches for the Modesto Nuts, a Seattle Mariners Single-A affiliate.
On Thursday, May 2 against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the right-hander tossed six innings and struck out 10 without surrendering a hit or a run. He walked one batter and closed his outing by striking out the side in the sixth.
In five starts this season, Schomberg is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 24 innings. He has struck out 30 and walked 14, while posting a 1.17 WHIP and holding opposing hitters to a .171 average.
Last year at Davidson, Schomberg served as the Wildcats' Friday starter and posted a 3.97 ERA and 7-2 record, while striking out 68, in 65.2 innings. He earned First Team Atlantic 10 honors, then signed a free agent contract with the Mariners organization.
