RICHMOND, Va. — Anderson Fulk's two-run, ninth-inning, walk-off home run lifted VCU to a 10-8 win over Davidson in Atlantic 10 baseball Friday night.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 14-15 overall and 2-2 in the A-10, while VCU (20-10) moved to 3-1 in league play.
Davidson had the offensive clicking early and built an 8-4 lead after Jacob Friend and Michael O'Shaughnessy homered in the fourth inning. Friend's two-run shot, his fifth of the year, was an inside-the-park homer. It careened off the center field wall and a VCU player, allowing Friend to motor around. Two batters later, O'Shaughnessy launched his team-leading eighth homer over the wall in left-center.
But VCU tied the game at 8-8 in the sixth when it scored two runs on three hits, and Fulk's home run came with one out in the ninth.
A two-RBI single from Tyler Douglas gave the Wildcats a first-inning lead, and the Wildcats moved back in front 5-3 with a three-run third that included an O'Shaughnessy two-RBI single and a Jake Wilhoit RBI-single. Wilhoit finished the night 3-for-3.
Starter Wilson Perkins threw 4.2 innings before handing the ball to Matt Weber (3.1) and Jason Ban (0.1).
