Ramblers Get By Wildcats, 76-63

CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago drained 14 3-pointers against Davidson College on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Wildcats 76-63 from inside Gentile Arena.
The result moves the 'Cats to 12-9 overall and 2-6 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Ramblers improve to 15-7 overall and 11-2 on their home floor.
Reed Bailey and Grant Huffman led Davidson with 23 points apiece, while Huffman also added eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Bailey finished the day 8-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-5 from deep in the third 20-point performance of his career.
After a defensive start from both sides, Loyola pulled ahead 13-6 at the 12:45-mark, scoring a pair of 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions. Angelo Brizzi drained a trey of his own on the other end of the floor, followed by a Rikus Schulte putback and deflection to Grant Huffman that capped off a 7-0 run for the Wildcats, tying the game at 13-all.
Bailey sank his first trey of the night to make it 20-20 with 5:30 left in the first half, before scoring eight-straight points to put the Wildcats within two, 31-29, with one minute remaining. Loyola Chicago's Braden Norris closed out the frame with his club's seventh three of the half and extended the lead by five going into the break.
The Ramblers shot 58 percent from deep in the second half, including a pair of Des Watson treys which extended Loyola's lead to 42-33 just five minutes in. From there, Loyola maintained its 10-point lead throughout the remainder of the contest.
Davidson outscored Loyola 34-22 in the paint, while the Ramblers had 31 points from its bench.
