Brizzi’s Spark and Second-Half Run Lead ‘Cats Over Fordham

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson shot 57.7 percent in the second half and used a 25-6 run to grab control and defeat Fordham, 68-53, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Tuesday evening inside Belk Arena.
With the win, the 'Cats improve to 15-11 overall and 5-8 in league play.
Coming off a season-high 29 points at St. Bonaventure, Connor Kochera led the Wildcats in scoring for the second straight outing with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers.
Reed Bailey added 19 points highlighted by a 12-of-16 effort at the line, while Angelo Brizzi was a huge spark off the bench with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes. Backcourt mate Grant Huffman was just as impressive with 10, 6 and 4.
Trailing 39-34 with 12:45 left, Brizzi ignited Davidson's game-changing spurt with a deep 3-pointer. He would later hit another triple and assist on three other buckets during the streak.
In addition to their strong offensive performance after intermission, the Wildcats held Fordham (10-16, 4-9 A-10) to just 26.7 percent in the period.
Will Richardson and Elijah Gray paced the Rams with nine points each.
Davidson scored the game's first nine points and led 18-9 before Fordham closed the opening 20 minutes on a 15-5 run to lead 24-23 at the half.
