Career Nights from Huffman and Bailey Lead ‘Cats Past Fordham, 79-69

BRONX, N.Y. – Grant Huffman and Reed Bailey each netted a career-high 24 points as Davidson pulled away late to defeat Fordham, 79-69, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday night inside Rose Hill Gymnasium.
The 'Cats end a three-game slide to improve to 11-6 overall and 1-3 in league action, while the Rams fall to 8-9 and 2-2.
Coming off a 24-point performance Saturday at George Washington, Huffman finished 9-of-16 from the floor to go along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
The senior point guard drilled his only trey of the night with 7:45 remaining to break a 50-50 deadlock and put the 'Cats in front for good.
Clinging to a 63-60 lead with just under three minutes to play, Davidson would all but put the game out of reach with six straight points from Huffman highlighted by a steal and one-handed jam.
In addition to tying a school-record with a 12-for-12 performance from the charity stripe, Bailey grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for his first-ever double-double.
Connor Kochera joined Huffman and Bailey in double figures with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a pair of triples.
Will Richardson led the Rams with 16 points.
In a game that featured 11 ties and six lead changes, Davidson finished 27-of-34 at the line for a 79.4 percent clip.
The two teams traded multiple runs over the opening 20 minutes before Kyle Rose hit a late 3-pointer to cap a 7-2 spurt to close the period and give Fordham a 37-34 lead at the half.
After Davidson scored the first eight points of the contest, the Rams responded with a 20-8 stretch to take their first lead of the night.
