WASHINGTON, D.C. — Despite a career and game high 24 points from senior guard Grant Huffman, the Davidson Wildcats fell 83-79 to George Washington in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
Huffman scored 18-straight second-half points for the Wildcats before Bobby Durkin drained his second triple of the day to push Davidson in front 75-72 in the final 56 seconds of regulation.
George Washington answered on the other end of the floor, connecting on a free throw and driving layup from Maximus Edwards to notch things at 75-all and force the overtime period.
The Revolutionaries got off to a 6-2 start in the extra frame to pull ahead 81-77 and ultimately secured the lead for good despite three 3-point attempts from the 'Cats in the closing minute.
Overall, the Wildcats shot 47.7 percent from the floor, after a 53.1 percent effort in the first half, and out-rebounded the Revolutionaries 42-38. The two teams exchanged 16 lead changes.
